House Martins Childrens
Day Care Centre is a special House established in May 1999 and
centred around children. The house is staffed by caring professionals
who are totally committed to the well-being of each and every
child within our care.
Each part of the House has
been carefully planned to cater for each age group of children;
at House Martins we aim to meet every child's needs.
Our full-day care package
will suit most working parents; 8am - 5:30pm. Children on this
package will be provided with breakfast, if needed then quality
care throughout the day with snacks and home cooked meals.
Your child will have a fun-packed
day at House Martins, carefully planned and thought out by qualified,
caring professionals.
We at House Martins aim
to strike a balance between emotional, social, intellectual and
physical development to maximise the opportunity for a child to
reach his/her full potential.
The House rooms are light
and airy and equipped to cater for different ages with a range
of activities. Downstairs we have a fully equipped, self-contained
baby unit which we call "The Nest", where babies are
able to be stimulated in a cosy baby room with attentive staff.
Toddlers (1-2) have a large
airy play area in our barn, which was totally refurbished in June
2003. Our "Hatchlings" have lots of play equipment,
including soft play, sand and water tray, painting activities
and various other equipment. This area also includes both adult
and children's seating to enable children to sit and read or have
a cuddle from our caring qualified staff. Our "Hatchlings"
follow the house topics on a smaller scale and have a folder to
take home.
Every child who attends
House Martins has a daily record sheet, a copy of which you will
see at the end of this page. The record sheet will help you share
your child's day and will be a nice keepsake for when your child
grows up and will help them to remember their all important childhood.
In order to cater for all
ages, we have restructured our upstairs area into four main play
areas - our newly-opened library and IT suite, our large airy
activity room with water, sand, paint and various craft activities,
a role play room where children can play and make believe in a
room full of role play (watched by our staff through a video link).
We also have another large airy room which consists of a mark
making table and various educational table top and floor toys.
These rooms are used on
a rota basis in small groups according to age and ability.
The groups are as follows:-
Two to two and a half years
are the "Starlings"
Two and a half to three years are "Swallows"
Three to five years are "Super Swoopers"
These small groups enable
the children to maximise their learning through play.
All activities are planned
to OFSTED standards. Planning copies and room rotas are always
available to parents. These are displayed on a notice board at
the top of the stairs.
We are now part of the Early
Years Partnership, so we can offer our parents DFE funding which
usually starts the term after your childs third birthday.
Three year old funding equates
to five two and a half hour sessions in any given setting. We
do have children who attend more than one setting, in which case
parents decide how to divide their funding. Please also remember
that sessions at House Martins are longer than two and a half
hours so parents will have fees to pay alongside their funding.
House Martins children enjoy
a fun-packed and stimulating day.
